Hey, babes! How was everyone’s weekend? Mine consisted of staying in to get myself organized for a busy month ahead. I am going to visit my family in Florida next week, and in April I’ll be headed to Coachella! Super excited to get some sunshine (and a tan) after dealing with NYC’s cold and bipolar weather. The changes in temperature have been a bit extreme. I took these photos two weeks ago on a day warm enough that I could have taken my flannel off; now I’m sitting in my bed with my heat on blast not wanting to step a foot outside.
I have to keep reminding myself that we are on the corner of winter and spring. Warm or cold, flannels are perhaps my favorite seasonless item to wear. Its casual and cool nature makes it a wardrobe staple everyone should own. If you haven’t already noticed, I am really into 90s trends, and this happens to be a favorite style of the era. The grunge subculture adopted the flannel from the 1990s giving it a modern and edgy feel. Previously it was a workman’s shirt with no real fashion purpose.
Living in a city where I am constantly running around, comfort has become key for me. I am working on a building a capsule wardrobe consisting of pieces that are comfortable + classic. I stumbled upon this reworked vintage flannel at Urban Outfitters while shopping in Soho one day. I snatched it up immediately as Urban’s reworked vintage pieces are one-of-a-kind and go quickly. I’ll be wearing this piece come Spring, maybe even wrap it around my waist hoping the weather permits. Write soon! Xx
